It has been known for years that honey is a natural cure for many common viruses and is also a good natural daily source of well being. However what many do not know is that you should use honey that is harvested locally. Why you ask? Harvesting honey locally means that the bee’s that mad the honey pollinated the plants and flowers that you live around. This is important when it comes to your getting honey’s full benefits. The plants and flowers found locally were are placed on this earth as cure for something. Each day we breath in the air that surrounds these plants & flowers. When the bee’s pollinate them they are taking the nectar from each of them and that nectar is made into honey giving us a little bit of natural medicine from each plant. This is why honey works so well on such things as the common cold. Honey coats your throat and soothes it relieving cough symptoms. Remember it is the make up of the honey that fights the disease and that is why it is so important that we use the local honey. An example of this is here in Vermont our honey mostly comes from our Red Clover flowers. Red clover is a natural cure for colds when brewed into a tea as I was taught by my Abenaki grandmother. Therefore the honey will contain the nectar from that clover to cure my cold. If I go to the grocery store and by honey it may come from somewhere where the bee’s pollinate a totally different flower that is meant to treat something a disease or illness that is common in that area.

Basically the best advise I can give is to make local honey a part of your life. It may be helping you fight something you are totally unaware of just for the reason that it contains natural medicine from your local area and can only help you. One precaution is it has been said to never give honey to children under two years of age.
