Have you been thinking about becoming a vegetarian? This is an important decision and one that should not be made lightly. This article will list the advantages and disadvantages of being a vegetarian to help you make an informed decision.

Disadvantages

The first disadvantage of being vegetarian is going out to eat. In a meat-eating world it can be tough to go out and eat. When you go out to eat you will find that there are few vegetarian meals and in order to get the meal you want you will have to list the different things you do not want to be in your food. This can be a hassle for not only you but for the people you are with.

The next disadvantage is the unwelcomed questions you will receive. Most people know nothing about being vegetarian, and they will ask you what you are able to eat. You will begin receiving questions like: Why don’t you eat meat? Do you miss eating meat? When’s the last time you ate meat? And many more questions.

The big disadvantage of being a vegetarian is the trouble of protein intake. The best way to receive protein is to eat meat, but vegetarians do not have that option. There are different ways to get protein in different foods and it is important that you ensure you are getting enough protein.

Advantages

The first advantage to becoming a vegetarian is weight loss. By removing meat and dairy products and replacing them with fruits and vegetables you can loss a little weight in a short period and get to a natural weight over time.

Another advantage is you will have more energy. Normally after eating a meal people feel fatigue as they have increased energy followed by a decrease in energy. With a vegetable and fruit diet your blood sugar will stay stable throughout the day, so you will have a more constant energy level.

Finally, you can avoid heart disease. People who eat a meat-based diet have a 50% chance of dying from a heart disease compared to just 4% for vegetarians. Help yourself avoid dying from a heart disease by going on an all fruit and vegetable diet.

There are many different advantages and disadvantages to becoming a vegetarian. This article has listed some of the advantages and disadvantages of being a vegetarian, now you just need to make an informed decision on whether you want to become a vegetarian or not.
